This quirky comedy sends up documentaries, mockumentaries and independent filmmaking in general. A documentary filmmaker of international repute, Ivan, is hired to follow around and film the process of a young filmmaker, Todd. Todd sets out to make a documentary about empowered women, which includes interviewing members of his own family. Todd deals with his own inner demons while coping with the neuroses of his cast and crew and all the usual problems of independent filmmaking (e.g., where's the money coming from?). Along the way, he is sidetracked into documenting the strange disappearance of his grandfather, a military man (that part is absolutely true).
